Industry News: BIC SPORT BECOMES TAHE

Bic Sport & Tahe Outdoors becomes Tahe - Oct 2020 Press Release

Tahe Outdoors is excited to introduce a new brand for 2021: TAHE. This dedicated water sports brand is founded on the idea of Endless Play Time . We all dream of the endless summer, of fun and adventure with family and friends that is timeless and makes us truly feel alive. This is what we search for, and hope to find, each time we venture out on the water. TAHE’s mission is to develop products that are accessible, reliable, simple and innovative, ecologically responsible and manufactured in France whenever possible. TAHE is also committed to the development of watersports competition opportunities for youth riders and racers everywhere.

NEW NAME, NEW DYNAMICS, SAME ROOTS

TAHE brings with it a fun image, innovative new products and exciting development projects for the future. That said, our skilled workforce remains in place and our most popular category names will carry forward. Products such as the Techno windsurf boards, Borneo and Bilbao kayaks, the Cross and Performer SUP series, ACE-TEC and TOUGH-TEC technologies, are all incorporated into the new TAHE brand. Together they ensure continuity in conjunction with new products and technologies. The manufacturing facilities also stay the same: Tahe Outdoors France/ex-BIC Sport at its site in Vannes, France and the original Tahe Outdoors at its factory in Tallin, Estonia.

TAHE is fortunate to have the 40 year heritage of two legendary companies, BIC Sport and Tahe Outdoors

TAHE is fortunate to have the 40 year heritage of two legendary companies, BIC Sport and Tahe Outdoors, as its foundation. BIC Sport’s board sport culture, manufacturing expertise and focus on family fun is now blended with Tahe Outdoors dedication to exploration and craftsmanship.

“Born from the windsurf culture of the early 1980s, BIC Sport built its image on the pursuit of fun, living the Hawaiian dream and searching for the perfect wave.”

ABOUT BIC SPORT: Born from the windsurf culture of the early 1980s, BIC Sport built its image on the pursuit of fun, living the Hawaiian dream and searching for the perfect wave. This passion inspired development of the best-selling windsurf boards on the planet. After numerous windsurf world championships BIC Sport expanded into other water sports; surfing, kayaking, junior sailing and most recently stand up paddle boarding. Countless successes in each of these sports made BIC Sport THE benchmark water sports brand for beginners and enthusiasts alike. This “open-to-everyone” strategy also drove the approach to sports development with the launch of two inclusive ‘one class’ racing divisions for young sailors. Fleets of Techno 293 windsurf boards and O’pen Skiff dinghies are now found in over 60 countries worldwide. These innovative concepts have shaken up the sailing world with fun new competitive classes that are both dynamic and open to all.

“Tahe Outdoors built its own legend conquering the cold, inhospitable seas of northern Europe.”

ABOUT TAHE OUTDOORS: In the late 1980s, far from the coconut palm beaches of Hawaii, Tahe Outdoors built its own legend conquering the cold, inhospitable seas of northern Europe. A group of hard-core sportsmen created a range of high-performance, super-tough kayaks so they could attempt extreme expeditions into the harsh, frozen landscapes of the great white north. “TAHE” means ”the will to succeed” in Estonian. An appropriate core value for the creators of this Estonian company, supported in its early days by the Finnish Kayak Federation. Two brands were created from this business (ad)venture : Zegul and Tahe Marine. Their products have been the platform for legendary expeditions to some of the most remote locations on the planet.

Tahe Outdoors is a European group dedicated to outdoor sports Tahe Outdoors, who acquired BIC Sport in 2019, has also developed the successful Core kitesurf brand, and paddle maker Egalis. The Tahe Outdoors group’s financial stability is derived from a majority shareholding held by a Luxemburg fund manager, KJK. In 2019 KJK created KJK Sports, a new group containing all the individual brands and businesses in the KJK portfolio. Its mission statement proposes the creation of a genuinely competitive world-wide business that can optimise the economies of scale of their supply chain, marketing and distribution functions. Its core values: innovation, quality products accessible to all ages and skill levels, and special attention to sustainable development.
