UNDERSTANDING THE GEAR YOU WEAR: LEVEL SIX EXHAUST PRO TECHNOLOGY (PART 2)

Level Six recently released a six-part video series exploring the Exhaust Pro, its new waterproof and breathable fabric technology. The series takes you behind the scenes of the project, diving into the development process, the people who helped bring it to life, and the thinking behind the fabric itself. In the second article of this two-part series, we share the remaining three videos to help you better understand the gear you wear and the technology that keeps you dry on the water.

The first video, A Community-Driven Fit, offers insight into how paddling gear, and particularly fit, is developed. Last year, Level Six launched a survey to better understand how paddlers feel about their gear and what they expect from it, with a focus on female paddlers. The feedback helped identify common frustrations and highlighted areas that needed to be reconsidered in the next generation of products.

What emerged from this process was a deliberate shift in approach within Level Six. Instead of adapting an existing men’s pattern, the Freya was developed as a standalone women’s dry suit, informed directly by female paddlers’ feedback. The aim was to design from the body outward, rather than adjusting a pre-existing template.

The second video presents the Freya dry suit. Level Six has created both a men’s version, the Odin, and a women’s version, the Freya, using the new Exhaust Pro fabric. Built from real customer data and feedback, the Freya is designed for comfort and a fit that moves naturally with the female body, while maintaining full performance on the water.

The final video looks at the Odin, the men’s front-entry dry suit built with Exhaust Pro. Combined with updated seam tape, a refined fit, and revised styling, the Odin represents the next generation of Level Six dry suits.

With Exhaust Pro, Level Six has taken a significant step forward in the evolution of paddling apparel. By combining PFAS-free construction, 100% recycled materials, and performance developed specifically for paddlesports, the company has created a fabric that reflects both the demands of the sport and the realities of the environments we move through on the water.

Through this six-video, two-article series, we hope to have shed some light on the gear you wear and the technology behind it. While dry gear is often judged by how it performs on the water, understanding how these materials are developed, tested, and manufactured offers a deeper appreciation for the equipment we rely on and the innovations shaping paddlesports.
